Idiocy

Why am I —such a fool?

Why am I such a fool?
Even in a row of thousand compliments,
What I wish to listen;
Are your thoughts of me!

Why am I such a fool?
Even amongst the crowd of thousands of people,
What I look forward to;
Is to see your face!

Why am I such a fool?
Even in a sack of thousand books,
The ones I pick;
Are the ones you reviewed upon!

Why am I such a fool?
Even in playlist of thousand songs,
What I keep on listening and re-listening;
Are those songs we sang together?

Why am I such a fool?
Even in an assembly of thousands,
What my ears seek for;
Are the words you whispered?

Why am I such a fool?
Even in the years of thousand incidents,
What I look forward;
Is— what you made me feel like!

Why am I such a fool?
To feel everything,
With nothing;
That you left?

Why am I such a fool?
To keep on reading and re-reading,
The letters that we shared
Even when we don’t mean them;
The same now!

Why am I such a fool?
To still eagerly wait,
By the bus-stop
Where you waved me goodbye;
Forever?

Why am I such a fool?
To keep on writing
For you
Till it aches
And doesn’t
When I know,
You’re not turning these pages
 — Again?

Tell me,
Why am I such a fool?
Why am I such a fool?
Tell me.
